AquaFed's participation in the Philippine Water Works Association (PWWA) International Conference and Exhibition

Welcoming new members to AquaFed was one of the highlights of the Philippine Water Works Association (PWWA) International Conference and Exhibition held in late October in the Philippines.

The event’s theme was climate change and meeting the challenges for water security and sanitation. There was a lot of technical information exchanged between utility and service providers and their supply companies about the latest methods and products available for greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

AquaFed gave a short presentation based on financing and investment, giving international context to levels of current investment and the shortfalls.​ We were also delighted to be able to welcome some new members into our College 2, which is for engineers, tech companies, investors and other partners.

​

The conference happened during a major typhoon that hit the country. Our Balibago Waterworks colleagues spent much of the conference managing the aftermath of severe flooding in another part of the country. The team on the ground where themselves local people, who had to move into an evacuation centre with their families and then work on making sure water was still available to everyone.

This showed the resilience and dedication of the Philippines water sector in the face of the most severe challenges.
