Blog entry: Water & Beyond, EU approaches for int’l Partnerships

On January 18, 2021, the European Commission, in conjunction with Slovenia and Portugal kick-off a high-level “water week” virtually to start the year off, and the next period of EU policy-making. A range of interesting debates with important water (and other) stakeholders are organised virtually. This marks the beginning of an interesting year for AquaFed in COVID-19 operational mode.

Youll find some insights from this conference below and we will try to update throughout the week; so stay tuned!

“‘Water and Beyond’ will deliver insights on how to strengthen transboundary cooperation, build broader partnerships and trigger water investments in support of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement. It will create meaningful connections between thematic silos for the formulation and implementation of water policies, projects and programmes. It will also lay the groundwork for applying the European Union's priorities for International Partnerships in the water sector and will make the link with programming and the Team Europe approach."

AquaFed is proud to be associated in the following sessions

  • High-level Opening Session with Mrs. Annelise AVRIL, Senior Vice-President of SUEZ
  • Session 3 – Bridging the Financing Gap with Mr. Dominique GATEL, Vice President of Public Affairs/Water, Veolia Environment
